Name: Shugorei
Scientific Name: Lacerta equinus (Latin for Lizard Horse)

Life Expectancy: Can live up to 50 years.

Height: 15-18 hh
Weight: 1000-1800 lbs

Appearance: While there may be variations between the different variations of Shugorei, they all share typical features. All Shugorei have a reptillian-type head, with either a straight or convex profile. The ears are usually set a bit behind the eyes and are highly mobile. The neck can be medium or long in length and is slightly arched. They all have pronged horns that despite their appearance are highly durable and do not break easily. The withers are pronounced and followed by a long and broad back. The croup is well-rounded and the thick reptillian tail is set low. No hair is seen on the tail up until near the end. All Shugorei have a row of spines down the back that ends about half-way up the tail. Near the last half of the tail, sharp spines grow, usually three or four. The skin is scaled, with more prominent scales located on the underside of the horse. The forelegs are canine-like while the hindlegs are equine-like.
