Hello friends!
School ended for me a little while ago, and that means it is time to resume our positions. The graphic novel is underway again and so I will be active again at this forum! Big changes ahead, all for the better! It just keeps getting better and better! You all just haven't seen it yet. x_X But ya will soon! Stay tuned!

Practicing with Horsies
These are in order with the oldest first and the newest last.
(The eye's a little wonky on this one, ignore where it's placed on the head.)

Re: Practicing with Horsies
You are definitely getting REALLY good at these guys!!! That makes me very happy, being how equine-inclined I am <3 The eye on the last one isn't wonky--it's the relationship of the eye to the neck that's a little off. The neck is a little thin/ewe-necked and also is located just a wee bit south of where it should be I think. I usually draw my horses a bit more idealized than most horses actually are, with an arched neck, but you don't have to by any means--though if you bumped it up a tiny bit on the 'idealism' scale you may end up going closer to 'realism' than you are now, as the neck is just a bit 'under-idealized'--exaggerated in the other direction, that is; you know? I'm terrible at explaining things. I'll see if I can do a redline for you at some point in the near future if you think that would help <3 You're getting so good at these!!
Re: Practicing with Horsies
No no I get what you're saying, I didn't notice the neck thing, will definitely to watch that in the future. And on the eye, I mean it's not positioned quite right, I had to photoshop it to get it into a better position.

Re: Practicing with Horsies
Ooo very nice! I love how realistic you are with your anatomy. I try but my style seems to take away from the realism at time in my own work. x3
I agree with what Xathiador said about the neck of the last horse in your first post. It looks too thin but you may want to move the whole shoulder down, shortening the forearm a bit, to make it wider/longer as well.
Your most recent post looks great, I love the angle and pose of the horse! I can tell it is an Arab right away too with the tail and face. x3 The muzzle looks a tad small though, maybe just not wide enough, like the nostrils should be a bit farther apart.
Your stuff still looks fantastic though, can't wait to see more and see how you improve!

Re: Practicing with Horsies
The only problem with making the neck larger is that it's a thoroughbred and the ones that are either in-training or racing don't normally have very thick necks, I could make it longer and a bit wider at the base, but not too much wider.

Re: Practicing with Horsies
I definitely see your point with those pics and what not. To me though, while the neck matches the breed, it makes the head look larger and therefore out of proportion to the rest of the body. It is possibly the way the neck is attached to the head, it pinches in too much making it appear to be thinner than it is or should be.
Re: Practicing with Horsies
It could also be the shape of the head in general, like it's not "lean" enough the way it should be.
