Basic Intro to the World Empty Basic Intro to the World

Post  Xathiador Mon Jan 19, 2009 5:53 pm

First, the Gods created the beautiful world in which the new races would live, known as Khthon, the Material World. They blessed it with beauty and mystery, and created an abundance of the Elements, wind, water, earth, fire, that would soon breathe Life into the creatures.

Then they created the Underworld; a place where the tired souls who had spent their life in Khthon would rest. There were three sections of the Underworld: the Twilight Lands, Hades, and Tartarus. The Twilight Lands were to be where newly passed souls would wait to be ferried by Charon and his given Steed across the river Acheron. From here they would either be placed in Hades, a paradise for the dead as a reward for a well-lived life that was positive for other beings; or they would be damned to Tartarus, who there was to dwell the most horrid and detestable of creatures; the very source of evil itself. Those sent to Tartarus were to live with this evil source, and so suffer eternal punishment for a sinful, destructive life.

The natural terrain was then constructed:
The first landform to be created was the harsh, rough, craggy and violently changing terrain of the Mountains, dotted with cliffs, caverns, volcanoes, and high peaks that were riddled with violent weather. Soon after, however, the Gods decided that such a place was no place for their creatures to live and survive, as Life was a fragile thing. The Gods however did not want to start over again in their creation, so they agreed to leave the craggy mountain formations as they were. And so, to make life more livable for their future creatures, a vast and mysterious wild forest as old as time was nestled against the mountains and placed to cover most of Khthon. Inside this was a diverse palette of landforms including water, meadow, desert, marshlands, and tundra; all surrounded by the thick spread of trees.

It was in the forest that they then began placing the first forms of Life.

The Gods decided amongst themselves that ALL forms of Life were to be gifted with intelligence and the power to communicate with one another.

Those known as the Mythics, who included the Unicorns, Kelpies, Gryphons, Chimera, Dragons, as well as a myriad of lesser-known creatures, were placed in the forest, where their power and abundance grew and their ancient existence was to become legendary; that which all future races would admire and seek their continuous wisdom.

Then, the Gods built the Civilizations. Ornate buildings and architecture that could only be created, repaired, and maintained by the Gods were constructed on the edge of the forest for each of the races that soon were to reside there. One was created for the great Avians, who were to be gifted with the knowledge of flight; one was created for the good Canines, who were most loyal and faithful of all beasts to come; one was created for the splendid Felines, who were the most cunning and lithe of all creatures; one was created for the humble Humans who would seek the companionship and help of all the previous beasts, and who would fear the creatures of the forest; and one was created for the noblest and grandest of all races, the Equines.

All of these Civilizations were gifted with the two strongest and most beautiful of its race to begin the Royal Line of each; and so Life began.

The Civilizations existed in peace for many, many centuries, each holding its own benevolent kingdom. But despite the peace of the races, there was by no means any absence of the Seven Sins; and somewhere deep between the forest and the mountains, they festered just beyond the material world. The Sins’ influence was beginning to clutch at the Lifelings, and they managed to overtake several beings.

The first to fall to these Sins was the noble Equine race.
